MILL CREEK -- Brad Donahue and Zach Wanderscheid both won their sixth-flight openers as the 54th PNGA Junior Boys Amateur Championship moved into match play Wednesday at the Mill Creek Country Club.
Donahue, from Yakima, defeated Redmond's Garrett Foss
3 and 1, while Wanderscheid, from Goldendale, beat Silverdale's Troy Means 4 and 3.
Both players advanced to today's flight semifinals.
In the stroke-play portion of the tournament, which seeded players into flights for match play, Donahue had back-to-back rounds of 81 for a 162 total, while Wanderscheid shot 78-84 to also finish at 162.
Sunnyside Rotary tourney Sept. 19
Registration has started for the ninth annual Sunnyside Rotary Golf Tournament Sept. 19 at Black Rock Creek Golf Course.
The four-person scramble begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start.
Cost is $75 per player or $300 per team. The cost includes a cart and sack lunch. Entry deadline is Sept. 16.
Entry forms can be obtained at Black Rock Creek.
