Block party tonight at Bethlehem Lutheran
Bethlehem Lutheran Church is hosting a neighborhood block party tonight. The party begins at 5 p.m. in the church parking lot at 801 Tieton Drive. Festivities include food, music, entertainment and fellowship.

Mormonism topic of Sunnyside seminar
United Reformed Church of Sunnyside is sponsoring a two-part seminar comparing Mormonism and Christianity.
The sessions run Thursday nights from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Aug. 7 and 14 at 1750 Sheller Road in Sunnyside.

Go on 'The Trek' at Peace Lutheran
Peace Lutheran Church is hosting "The Trek" Vacation Bible School.
The week of activities -- Monday through Friday -- will be hosted by Camp Lutherhaven of Couer d'Alene, Idaho.
Children ages 4 through sixth grade are invited to attend, and older kids are invited to volunteer to help.
Lunch and snacks are provided, and preregistration is suggested. Peace Lutheran is at 91 Wernex Loop, next to the junior high school track, in Selah. Sessions run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

'Amazon Expedition' at Calvary Chapel
Calvary Chapel Yakima Valley is hosting "Amazon Expedition" Vacation Bible School, beginning Monday.
Activities include songs, crafts, games and dramas. The free session runs from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday at the church, 1021 S. 40th Ave.

Two more sessions of Summer Adventure
A Christian camp for kids has two more sessions this summer.
The next session starts Monday and runs through Wednesday. The final session runs Aug. 11-13.
Camp Jubilee's Summer Adventure, for children ages 8 to 11, features arts and crafts, Bible verses, skits, worship, and outdoor activities such as hiking.
The cost is $25 per child for two nights and three days. The camp is 35 miles west of Yakima, off U.S. Highway 12. For more information or to register, call Josh Montgomery at 574-7019.
'Galilee by the Sea' at West Side Baptist
West Side Baptist Church is hosting "Galilee by the Sea" vacation Bible school, beginning Monday.
The free session runs from 9 a.m. to noon through Friday. Classes are available for children age 4 through fifth grade.
Activities include games, songs, Bible stories and snacks. The week culminates with a "Family Night Friday" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for participants and their parents.

Sunnyside church to hold dinner, dance
Get out your dancing shoes and don't spoil your appetite. Sunnyside Holy Trinity Episcopal Church is hosting its annual pig roast dinner and dance.
The party takes place at Steppe Cellars at 1991 Chaffee Road in Sunnyside. Festivities begin at 6 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Dancing starts at 7:30 p.m.

Taizé service Sunday at St. Michael's
St. Michael's Episcopal Church is hosting a Taizé service Sunday night. The service starts at 7 p.m. at the church, 5 S. Naches Ave. A rehearsal takes place at 6 p.m.
Musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments and accompany the meditative singing. Youth and young adults are especially encouraged to attend.The ecumenical monastic Taizé Community was founded in Taizé, France, in 1940. 'God's Big Backyard' at Toppenish church
Toppenish Calvary Bible Church is hosting "God's Big Backyard" vacation Bible school, beginning Monday.
The program features Bible stories, crafts, snacks and service projects, including landscaping the missionary cottage at the church and preparing approximately 100 packages to ship to local troops serving in Iraq.
The church had been collecting items for the troops but was recently burglarized. Most of the donated care packages were stolen.
But organizers say this setback won't stop the project. Donations are being collected to make up for what was taken. Items needed include candy (nonchocolate), socks, disposable cameras, batteries, playing cards, gum, nuts, sunflower seeds and granola bars.
The program runs 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Children ages 5 to 11 are invited. The program will be held at the church, 105 Goldendale Ave. in Toppenish.

Christian fitness class tonight at YAC
Get out your water bottle and athletic shoes: There's a free "Faith and Fitness" class tonight.
The topic: "The exercise of laughter."
The workout with a Christian message takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Yakima Athletic Club, 2501 Racquet Lane. It's billed as "A night to exercise your heart, soul and strength!"
The session features a message from the Bible and the chance to exercise to positive, uplifting music. Certified fitness instructors lead workouts, including a mix of yoga, cardio and strength training.
All fitness levels are welcome. Child care is available for kids 1 to 11 years old. Participants are asked to wear athletic shoes and bring a water bottle.
